Position Overview:
The Chief AI Engineer (CAIE) at TazaMall.com is responsible for driving the AI strategy and implementation across the company. This role will lead the development and integration of advanced AI technologies to optimize various aspects of the business, from customer experience to operational efficiency. The CAIE will lead the AI engineering team, ensuring that the company leverages cutting-edge AI tools and techniques to improve decision-making, personalize customer interactions, and enable data-driven insights.


Core Responsibilities:

  1. AI Strategy Development and Execution:
    • Develop and implement the AI strategy for TazaMall.com, aligning AI initiatives with the company’s business objectives.
    • Identify opportunities to apply artificial intelligence in areas such as marketing, customer support, inventory management, personalization, and fraud detection.
    • Continuously assess emerging AI technologies and integrate the most relevant ones to maintain a competitive advantage.
  2. Leadership of AI Engineering Team:
    • Lead, mentor, and grow the AI engineering team, ensuring high levels of collaboration and performance.
    • Manage AI talent acquisition, team development, and skill-building efforts.
    • Promote a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the AI team.
  3. AI Model Development and Implementation:
    • Oversee the development, training, and deployment of machine learning models, deep learning networks, and other AI algorithms.
    • Ensure that AI models are accurate, scalable, and optimized for production environments.
    • Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and product managers to implement AI solutions that meet business requirements.
  4. Data Strategy and Management:
    • Collaborate with data teams to ensure that high-quality, well-structured data is available for AI models.
    • Define and enforce best practices for data collection, preprocessing, and data management to support AI initiatives.
    • Ensure that AI systems are integrated with the company’s data infrastructure and that AI-driven insights are actionable and aligned with business goals.
  5. AI Product Integration and Optimization:
    • Lead the integration of AI technologies into TazaMall’s existing products and services, enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.
    • Continuously monitor and evaluate AI systems in production to ensure optimal performance and address any issues.
    • Work with product and engineering teams to ensure that AI products are aligned with user needs and business objectives.
  6. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, including the CTO, CEO, and product teams, to ensure AI solutions are aligned with overall business strategies.
    • Work with the marketing and customer service teams to enhance customer engagement through AI-powered personalization and chatbots.
    • Interface with external partners and vendors to explore and adopt external AI solutions when necessary.
  7. Research and Development:
    • Lead R&D efforts in AI, focusing on the exploration of new algorithms, tools, and methodologies.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, research, and innovations in the AI and machine learning field.
    • Encourage a research-driven approach to AI development and contribute to thought leadership in the AI community.
  8. Ethical AI and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all AI projects comply with ethical standards, legal requirements, and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
    • Address issues related to AI bias, transparency, and explainability in decision-making processes.
    • Promote responsible AI usage across the organization, ensuring AI solutions are designed with fairness and accountability in mind.
  9. AI Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor the performance of AI models and systems, using data-driven insights to optimize and improve them over time.
    • Provide regular reports and updates to the executive team on the status, outcomes, and impact of AI initiatives.
    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for AI-driven projects and ensure continuous improvement.
  10. Budget Management:
    • Manage the budget for AI-related initiatives, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while achieving maximum impact.
    • Identify opportunities for cost optimization in AI operations, infrastructure, and tools.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Technical Expertise:
    • In-depth knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and other AI techniques.
    • Expertise in AI frameworks and programming languages, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Python, and R.
    • Strong understanding of cloud-based AI infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and distributed computing.
  2. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Proven ability to lead and scale high-performing AI engineering teams.
    • Excellent mentorship skills, with a focus on nurturing and developing AI talent.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  3. Problem Solving and Innovation:
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex challenges using AI solutions.
    • A creative and innovative mindset, with the ability to identify new applications of AI technology across various business functions.
  4. Data Science and Engineering Skills:
    • Solid foundation in data engineering, data wrangling, and working with large datasets.
    • Experience with data processing tools, databases, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  5. Experience and Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred).
    • 7-10 years of experience in AI engineering, machine learning, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of successfully deploying AI technologies in real-world business applications.
  6. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex AI concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with product, marketing, sales, and executive teams.
  7. Ethical and Responsible AI Practices:
    • A strong understanding of ethical issues related to AI and a commitment to responsible AI development.
    • Familiarity with AI governance, fairness, and bias mitigation techniques.

  • Full-time Position: The CAIE will work closely with the CTO and executive team to ensure AI strategies align with TazaMall’s business objectives.
  • Location: The CAIE will be based at TazaMall’s headquarters, with the possibility of flexible or remote work arrangements.
